What
Smart Monitoring and voice confirmation can be toggled on or off for common areas. This means that a resident does not have to be assigned to the housing unit for Smart Monitoring to be enabled.
Smart monitoring and sound are enabled by default, but can be switched off so the Nobi functions as a normal light only.
Live view, images during escalations, and event monitoring are not available for common areas.
Why
Common areas do not have a resident assigned, which means resident-level settings cannot be applied. Disabling smart monitoring prevents fall escalations in shared spaces such as corridors or dining areas. Disabling voice confirmation ensures the light remains silent in environments where voice interaction is not appropriate.
This configuration respects privacy in common areas while allowing continued use of the light as lighting.
It also avoids the need to remove or unhook the device, so light availability is never lost.
