What
The Responsiveness report shows how quickly care staff respond to falls and resident calls in your community. You see three times: acknowledgement time, intervention time, and escalation duration. You see them over time and by department.
Why
When a resident falls or asks for help, fast help matters. This report shows how fast your team accepts an escalation, reaches the resident, and closes the escalation. You see where response times are good, and where they can improve.
Who can see this report
Users with the Manager role on the community can see this report. Users and technicians cannot.
The report is in the menu of the Nobi web application on a computer. It is not in the menu on a phone.
Open the report
- Click Insights in the left menu, then click Care performance.
- Open the Responsiveness tab.
In the top right corner, there are two buttons:
- Export Excel: click to download the report with your currently applied filters.
- Print / PDF: open your browser’s print window to print or save as PDF. The printout shows your community, filters and time period.
Before you start
- The report is always up to date. Nobi calculates every figure again each time you open the report. When someone corrects a fall later, the figures of past months change too.
- Days follow your community’s time zone.
- The report starts from the first month with a checked fall or a resident call. There is no minimum number of days.
Which escalations count
This report counts two kinds of escalations: checked falls and resident calls.
Checked falls only count from housing units where at least one Nobi light is out of setup mode.
Resident calls
Every resident call counts: a resident asking for help with a wearable call button, a pull cord, or a Nobi call button.
| Situation | Resident call counts? |
|---|---|
| Light in setup mode, also during the learning period | Yes |
| Smart monitoring off | Yes |
| Fall detection snoozed | Yes, a snooze does not stop resident calls |
| Resident call from a common area | Yes |
| Assistance call from a caregiver | No |
The “Falls Checked by” filter does not change the resident calls.
Filter the report
You can set your filters at the top. The report will apply these automatically when you select them.
| Filter | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Department | Choose all departments or one department type. Departments without a type show as “No department type”. | All departments |
| From / To | Choose the exact start and end date. A date outside the available data moves to the nearest possible date. If From is after To, the report swaps them. | The last four complete months |
| Group by | Show the charts per Month, Week, or Day. Weeks start on Monday and show as “WK” plus the week number. | Month |
| Falls Checked by | Choose who decides that a fall escalation is a real fall: Nobi or Care staff. | Nobi |
Falls Checked by: Nobi or care staff
This filter only changes the falls.
| Nobi | Care staff | |
|---|---|---|
| What counts as a fall | A fall escalation that Nobi labeled as a real fall. | A fall escalation that care staff closed as actual fall. This includes your own fall causes that count as a real fall. |
| What does not count | Fall escalations that Nobi labeled otherwise, for example as a false alarm or a duplicate. | Fall escalations closed as not a fall, and fall escalations that are not analyzed yet. |
Good to know: in the Fall risk management report, months with less than 95% analyzed fall escalations are left out. This report does not do that. Every checked fall counts.
The three figures at the top combine falls and resident calls. So with a different “Falls Checked by” choice, those figures change too.
The three times
| Time | From | Until | Does not count when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acknowledgement time | The start of the escalation | The first time a staff member accepts it | Nobody accepted it, or it took more than 4 hours |
| Intervention time (falls only) | The start of the fall escalation | An extra person enters the room | It took more than 4 hours, or Nobi cannot reliably tell when help arrived |
| Escalation duration | The first notification or phone call sent to a caregiver | The escalation is closed | The escalation was never sent to a caregiver, is still open, or lasted 24 hours or more |
How a staff member accepts an escalation. The first of these two counts:
- tapping On my way in the Nobi Mobile App, or
- pressing 1 on the phone call from Nobi.
Picking up the phone without pressing 1 does not count.
Intervention time is determined on a best-effort basis. When Nobi cannot reliably tell when help arrived, for example when the resident crawls out of the room, that fall has no intervention time. Resident calls have no intervention time.
The summary
At the top, you see three figures. Below each one, you see the average.
| Figure | Which escalations |
|---|---|
| Median acknowledgement time | Checked falls and resident calls together |
| Median fall intervention time | Checked falls only |
| Median escalation duration | Checked falls and resident calls together |
Response times for falls
“Based on … checked falls” shows all checked falls in your period and department.
Three cards follow:
- Median acknowledgement time
- Median intervention time
- Median escalation duration
Below each median, you see the average and the number of falls with a valid time for that card.
Why the numbers differ. “Based on” counts all checked falls. Each card only counts the falls where that time exists and is valid. A fall that nobody accepted within 4 hours counts in “Based on”, but not in the acknowledgement card.
Median fall response times over time. A bar chart with three bars per period: acknowledgement time, intervention time, and escalation duration.
- Each bar is the median of that period.
- The axis shows minutes. Hover over a bar to see the time as h:mm:ss.
- The periods follow your Group by choice. With Day, you see days.
- A period without any valid time has no bar. That is not the same as zero.
Response times for resident calls
The same layout as for falls, with two cards:
- Median acknowledgement time
- Median escalation duration
Median resident call response times over time shows two bars per period.
Response times by department
You see this section when there is more than one department or department type to compare. It has two blocks:
- By department type: only with “All departments” selected and more than one department type.
- By department: when there is more than one department. With one department type selected, you only see the departments of that type.
Each block has two ring charts and a table.
| Chart | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Share of falls | How the checked falls are spread across departments. |
| Share of resident calls | How the resident calls are spread across departments. |
Good to know: the ring charts show numbers of falls and resident calls, not response times.
The table. Per department: falls, median and average fall intervention time, and resident calls. The department with the most falls and resident calls is at the top.
Export to Excel
Export Excel downloads the report with your current filters. The file has these tabs: Overview, Response summary, Over time, By department type, and By department. All times in the Excel file are in minutes.
Definitions
Fall escalation: a fall that the Nobi light detected and sent as an escalation.
Checked fall: a fall escalation that counts as a real fall, based on your “Falls Checked by” choice.
Resident call: a resident asking for help with a wearable call button, a pull cord, or a Nobi call button.
Acknowledgement time: the time between the start of the escalation and the first time a staff member accepts it, by tapping “On my way” or pressing 1 on the phone call. Only times up to 4 hours count.
Intervention time: the time from the start of the fall escalation until a second person enters the room, shown as h:mm:ss. Nobi determines this on a best-effort basis. Only times up to 4 hours are included. Not reported for resident calls.
Escalation duration: the time between the first notification or phone call sent to a caregiver and the moment the escalation is closed. Only escalations that were sent to a caregiver and closed count, up to 24 hours.
Median: the middle value. Half were faster, half were slower. A few very long times do not pull it up. Look at the median first.
Average: all times added up and divided by their number. A few very long times can pull it up.
Times show as h:mm:ss.
Keep in mind
- The summary mixes falls and resident calls. For falls alone, look at “Response times for falls”.
- No bar is not zero. A period without a valid time has no bar.
- Escalations left open make the escalation duration longer. The time runs until someone closes the escalation.
- Past months can change. The report is calculated again each time.
Tips
- Accept an escalation as soon as you go to the resident. Tap On my way in the Nobi Mobile App.
- Close every escalation as soon as the resident is helped.
